LOBSTER QUEEN

They say women are bad luck on a boat. Captain Gail Atkinson never gave a damn. She's spent the last 30 years proving everyone wrong—and taking chances on people nobody else would hire.

But Gail's convictions are put to the test as she faces the storm of the year and an emotional upheaval that shakes her to her core. As she grapples with identity, loneliness, and legacy, Gail finds unexpected purpose providing others the very opportunities that she was once denied.

Coming to festivals in fall 2025, this 23-minute documentary has received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts, and was developed with support from the Whistler Doc Lab.
