KATIBA BANAT: SISTERS IN ARMS

BROADCASTER: Rogers Sports and Media/Omni TV, Apple TV, TVF

Katiba Banat: Sisters in Arms tells the stories of women who fought in one of Africa’s longest and bloodiest conflicts. The series weaves together the past and the present through interviews, rare archival footage, incredible animations, and footage juxtaposing the beautiful people and landscape of South Sudan with the Canadian cities and towns where the women and their families now live.

THE POILIEVRE INVESTIGATION

Political campaign and video series funded by unions as well as former Liberal and NDP staffers

My first (and likely last!) foray into the political world. The ad budget behind these videos was over 4 million dollars, and they were seen by millions of Canadians. They were even broadcast as commercials during the infamous Canada-USA 4-Nations hockey final.

VARIOUS SHORT FILMS FOR OXFAm

CREDITS: Various - Producer, director, editor, cinematographer

I worked as a communications and campaigns advisor for the international NGO Oxfam for three years. During that time, I worked on several promotional short films. I hesitate to include them here as my technical skills have advanced, but I still love the stories. Here are a couple of my favourites.

BECKWOMAN’S HIPPIE EMPORIUM

6-minute short documentary
CREDIT: Producer, director, cinematographer
FESTIVAL SELECTIONS: DOXA Documentary Film Festival

This was my first “real” documentary. Technically speaking I have come a long way since making it, but it still tugs at my heartstrings.
